CANVAS UNBOUND

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of participating in a unique 3-day art event at Piree, a hybrid celebration of art, sound, taste, and spatial texture, located in the industrial core of the port of Piraeus. This immersive experience unfolded through evolving exhibitions, live music performances, curated food pairings, and ritual-like encounters between the senses.

For this event, I presented a sculptural installation — a chimeric hybrid of elephant, ostrich, butterfly, and human — inviting the viewer into a fictional yet deeply symbolic world. Conceived as a reinterpretation of the classical marble sculpture, the work was digitally deconstructed and reconstructed using 3D printing, while visually mimicking marble’s surface, challenging notions of authenticity, tradition, and material illusion.

The human hand within the creature alludes to its creator — a single trace of humanity in a composition where organic and inorganic elements have fused. The piece emits a subtle floral scent, anchoring memory through olfaction and enhancing its suspended, dreamlike presence.

Set within a dim, inert space, the installation aimed to produce a contemplative, almost spiritual atmosphere — referencing Asian aesthetic traditions, techno-biological utopias, and the fine line between science and metaphysics.

This event was more than an exhibition — it was a weekend of collisions: between worlds, mediums, and sensory dimensions. I’m grateful to have contributed to this transformative dialogue.
